Hamstar

Built by Two. Played by Millions.

In 2011, when Unity was still an emerging game engine for mobile, we set out to build a game simply because we loved making things. With one designer and one developer, Hamstar went on to reach the top of the App Store, competing against some of the biggest game studios in the world.

Just an Idea and a Love for Building

Hamstar wasn’t created by a large studio or backed by a major publisher. It was built by a designer and a developer who simply wanted to create something fun, original and full of personality. We embraced Unity while it was still a relatively new platform for mobile development and focused on crafting a game that players would genuinely enjoy.

The excitement was seeing an independent game compete with titles created by studios with hundreds of developers, artists and designers. The achievement wasn’t about diminishing the work of others — it was about proving that a small team with focus, speed and belief could still break through.

Building with Unity

Unity opened new possibilities for independent creators. Working with a small team meant moving quickly, testing ideas constantly and refining gameplay through experimentation. Creativity wasn’t limited by process. It was accelerated by it.
